It’s the modern and fashionable era and people are always on the lookout for something new – - – new trends in evening wear, cocktail wear, accessories, footwear and just about anything new and fresh in the fashion scene. But the evolution of fashion does not seem to limit itself to daytime and evening wear. You see, modern brides today are now turning to colors other than white for their wedding dresses.
People have long said goodbye to old dress rules of the past. And today, more women look at red as a warm vibrant color pick for a wedding. I, myself, love the idea of a non-traditional bride and I must say I want to be one of those daring brides. The difference is, I am not. My sister’s getting married in 10 weeks, but being the maid of honor, I have quite some shoes to fill in.
During the earlier days of her wedding plans and all, and the time we were arguing as to what theme she truly wants to go for her big day, she asked me if red would be okay. Not the conventional type myself, I told her why not? Since red symbolizes love – - – what could be more appropriate for a wedding? The rest of the weeks then were spent to looking for the perfect red wedding dress for her.
She tried on about a couple of dozens in just 4 weeks. As I was always there to make sure she doesn’t get carried away over some odd choices, I have to admit that was pretty stressful. It was only during the final weeks of our preparations, where we have narrowed down her options to a handful.
This elegant red beaded tank style wedding dress has a really sexy unique open back with a center back that provides her excellent bust support. Heavily beaded and with slight train, the dress would be magnificent to walk the aisle with. But after several times of fitting and re-fitting, we just both decided that the dress don’t have the kind of impact we were expecting.
Her other pick, the stretched beaded halter red dress had excellent beadwork though I never truly agreed on the whole look from the beginning. How the dress made her look more on the heavy side as she tried it on finally convinced her. A better pick, though didn’t persuade me totally either, is the Red Satin Halter with a pretty rhinestone accent.
It could pass up for evening formals, but to me, it certainly lacks the ‘red hot bride’ factor I was looking for my sis.
This red beaded halter dress almost swayed me with its sexy front cut-out and side slit design. With its entirety so sophisticatedly beaded, I must say it is a sure show-stopper. But the only dress that convinced both of us, and will be the very dress she will wear, is the red charmeuse long gown with slight trail.
With lovely lace appliqués and fabulous beadwork throughout, this one sure tops everything else when it comes to elegance. I guess it’s its deep halter neckline and front straps extending all the way to the back creating a goddess-like ensemble that would immortalize any bride who dons it. As it zips at the back, the overall fit smooths around her body and defines it just gracefully.
The wedding isn’t until a few weeks more form now and I will come back to tell you how it went. But I have no doubt everyone will adore the gown! Red is indeed a fabulous choice for wedding wear. Apart from its irresistible appeal, I love its symbolic meaning. For other cultures, it is even a norm. It is the traditional wedding dress of most Chinese and Indian women, as it translates romance and joy. They have always embraced red and continues to do so. I’m glad the rest of the world are catching up.
